National Young Adult Cancer Awareness WeekŪ
|
This Sunday in
The Group Room we are launching the 7th Annual National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week, an effort spearheaded by Vital Options as the first organization originally founded for young adults with
cancer. Did you know that nearly 70,000 young adults in their 20s and 30s are diagnosed with cancer each year and that many of the strides made in cancer treatment have bypassed young adults? Young adults with cancer have had less survival improvement than either younger or older patients, and in addition to issues such as fertility, body image, cognitive function, long-term effects, education, insurance, and employment, young adults have different biological and clinical aspects to their diseases. "Consider Cancer" is this year's call to action and you'll hear that call from some of the most dynamic and outspoken young adult survivors and leaders that are shaping tday's young adult cancer movement. Tune in this Sunday and visit www.youngadultswithcancer.org and www.thegrouproom.tv

FREE FOR THE FIRST 10 CALLERS!
Everything Changes
The Insider's Guide to Cancer in Your 20s and 30s by Kairol Rosenthal
On a shoe-string budget and with tape recorder in hand, Kairol
Rosenthal emerged from treatment and hit the road in search of other
twenty- and thirty-something cancer survivors. From the Big Apple to
the Bible Belt, she dusts the sugar coating off of the young adult
cancer experience, exposing the gritty and compelling stories of
twenty-five complete strangers. The men and women in Everything Changes
confess their most vulnerable moments, revealing cancer experiences
they never told anyone else - what they thought about at night before
going to bed, what they wish they could tell their lovers but were too
afraid to.
The first 10 callers into the show on Sunday, April 5th to ask a question or comment on air about National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week will receive a free copy of Everything Changes!
